Quote from shortie:
this election is gonna be different because the landslide victory of obama was obvious to pretty much everyone.
Quote from codedeep007:
In 2000, Nasdaq dropped another 30% after election, the screw up might have costed 5% but the rest 25% was a real pain.
Quote from Mercor:
No Landslide!!
Almost same as 2004, was 2004 a landslide?
2008
McCain 55,278,000
Obama 62,322,000
2004
Bush 62,040,606
Kerry 59,028,109
___________________
Bush / Obama about same vote total
McCain down 5 Million form Kerry
McCain was close. This is the difference, Here is why Obama won
Ohio +207,000
Florida +200,000
Virginia +155,000
Indiana +23,000
N Carolina +11,000
Colorado +140,000
Nevada +120,000
About 900,000 votes...Thatâs it! But all in the right place.
Quote from eminitrader007:
+3 million to -5 million is a significant difference. In 2004 when Bush won 286 he claimed that it was a mandate from people. Obama received about 80 more votes so this can be considered a landslide. This is nothing compared to what Reagan did in 84 but he was an incumbent.
Democrats won the popular vote, the electoral college, 28 states and increased their seats in the senate and congress. This is just the begining. Obama will likley have the opportunity to elect 3 SC judges during his term so this will get better. It will be nice to see Hillary Clinton or Al Gore as a SC judge.
I'm glad this election is over. Time for bed and back to work starting tomorrow.
