LOL. So how are you assigning those percentages? Markets hate uncertainty, and a presidential election that drags out over a month is about as uncertain as it gets. Also, in late 2000 we were already in the early stages of a bear market. It would be equivalent to a major negative event occuring late last year or early 2008, before so much bad news was already priced in (like it is now).

+3 million to -5 million is a significant difference. In 2004 when Bush won 286 he claimed that it was a mandate from people. Obama received about 80 more votes so this can be considered a landslide. This is nothing compared to what Reagan did in 84 but he was an incumbent.
Democrats won the popular vote, the electoral college, 28 states and increased their seats in the senate and congress. This is just the begining. Obama will likley have the opportunity to elect 3 SC judges during his term so this will get better. It will be nice to see Hillary Clinton or Al Gore as a SC judge.
I'm glad this election is over. Time for bed and back to work starting tomorrow.
