I missed it. What was the bet? On the whole election? Or just one state?

Over there in Ireland at Paddy Powers they said the last big bet they took was some guy laid 40,000 euros for a 10,000 pay out on Obama.

I used Paddy, Intrade and Betfair, among others. I had to settle within 24 hours as I used intermediaries (can't use them direct as US resident). I never paid more than 57/100 with bookmakers and never over 1:1 with individuals.

we had some guy whose wife had family over there that they were going to visit. And he just started up a pool and asked everybody, "Do you want to bet against Dukakis?" I forget what the odds were, but they were still pretty good."

And sure as shit, when he got back to the USA he paid everybody off to the dollar (with a slight pre agreed upon transaction fee.)
