All you have to do is watch the YouTube vids of this year's GOP convention and Dem convention. Look at the faces in both crowds.

GW Bush had more diversity at his convention. That's how he won.

The "center" isn't even a possibility any longer. Hard decisions have to be made, the credit bubble ended (and begat the govt debt bubble)...but that "touchy feely" centrism of the 90's is a relic.

Both sides are dug in and they aren't relenting. Logic_Man is basically right...there is no fixing it aside from splitting the country in half...the libs get their wishes and the conservatives get theirs.
