It is part of the daily political chatter and kabuki dance for political types to keep asking RFK if he is going to drop out and free up votes for Trump either because he supports Trump or it is a way of ending his campaign by being helpful rather than as a spoiler despised by both pubs and dems - especially if Trump wins. Always good to be on the right side.

Anyway, nothing new about that dance, and part of the dance is that Bobby then reaffirms in blood that he is in it to the end, and round and round we go. Whatevah. Everyone is in it to the end until they are not. Refer to Joe Biden for more on that.

Having said that, I do think it is worth noting that Bobby's running mate is now talking about it in public and acknowledging that that is being considered.

Some foreplay going on there. I think.

Maybe Trump offered Bobby Fauci's old job. Little joke there. OR NOT.

Ford Cancels Plans for Electric SUV


Ford Motor is canceling plans for a large electric sport-utility vehicle and expects to take $1.9 billion in related special charges and write-downs, as automakers continue adjusting their EV plans because of softer-than-expected demand.

The Dearborn, Mich., automaker this spring said it would delay plans for an electric three-row SUV by two years to a 2027 release date. On Wednesday, the company said it is scrapping the model altogether, citing tough pricing pressure as automakers resort to aggressive discounts to move their EVs.

Ford instead will offer a hybrid gas-electric version of a future large, three-row SUV, a popular vehicle category that includes the brand’s Explorer and Expedition nameplates.

The company also pushed back the launch of a new electric pickup truck by one year, until 2027. In addition, Ford said it would trim its capital spending on fully electric vehicles to about 30% of its budget, from 40%.

“Based on where the market is and where the customer is, we will pivot and adjust and make those tough decisions,” Ford Chief Financial Officer John Lawler said.

Ford has said its EV business is on pace to lose about $5 billion this year. Executives have said the company is trying to reduce those losses on its current EV lineup while making sure future offerings turn a profit.

Carmakers are trying to strike a tricky balance on electric vehicles. Tougher tailpipe-emissions rules, along with the rapid rise of Chinese EV makers, are pressuring them to invest in the technology. But consumer interest in EVs has waned after a burst of enthusiasm.

This decision by Ford does not have to do with the 2024 election; it is more related to the general conditions in the EV market. Bottom line: EVs are just not selling in the U.S. for a host of reasons including short range, charging times, lack of charging stations, fears to take EVs on lengthy road trips and other reasons.

Even the Japanese car makers such as Toyota have recently announced they would be focusing on hybrids for the U.S. market and not expanding EV models. Their plans include moving all their gasoline models over to being hybrids and having most of them be "plug-in" hybrids.

Similar to solar panels on homes and businesses, the only way EVs will take off in the U.S. market is if there are significant government subsidies (more than today), charging stations located in every gas station/mall, and technology improvements are made to get the range up near 500 miles rather than 300 miles.

Voters are being offered a clear choice of whether they want more of the forced imposition of EV or less. We are seeing the clear fall-out of years of The Green New Scam in auto making and energy production. One party wants to double down and have more. The other wants to break out of the commie-imposed virtue signaling that meets the needs of lefties in DC but not manufacturers and consumers.

Ford is backing out of a road they went down that they never wanted to go down. Except the government put all the incentives and mandates and subsidies over in that arena.

So you are apparently making the leap that Ford's decision to discontinue an electric SUV is related to the upcoming 2024 election. If this was the thought-line then Ford would be going all in on EVs if Harris was going to win. This decision to discontinue EVs at Ford then can only be based on the assumption that Trump and the Republicans are going to win the 2024 election.

I don't see this decision by Ford having any relationship to the 2024 decision in the U.S. -- it is merely based on what they see happening in the market. EVs are not getting expected traction in the market. Multiple car companies, not only Ford, are pulling back their EV plans. Not only in the U.S. but world-wide.
