Trump needs to very careful with his VP pick. While millions of democrats hate Biden and has made peace with a 2nd Trump term that could change with the wrong VP pick.
Anybody that thinks Tim Scott gets Trump more black vote doesn't know much about politics or how the Black Community feels about Black Republicans/Uncle Toms/Coons.
There are millions of black people who hate Biden and wont be voting for him but their feelings would change if an Uncle Tom was a VP nominee.Nearly every Black person I know hate Biden but would rather see Biden win a 2nd term before seeing an Uncle Tom as VP.
Anybody paying attention knows Black Republicans do not do well in state wide elections or primaries...
Now yes, Tim Scott is a US Senator, but he was not elected to that position,Niki Haley appointed him.He did win re election but he had the advantage of incumbency and not having to fight through a GOP Primary to be The GOP nominee. If Scott would have had to go through a GOP primary for his seat the results would have been the same as his presidential run imo.Not only do blacks hate Scott, many republicans do to for they way he stabbed the women who made him a US Senator in the back. That should have been expected though as a man who would betray his own people would betray anyone.Black voters in his own state dont like him
On a balmy, overcast October afternoon in South Carolina, Tim Scott, the state’s junior senator and current Republican presidential hopeful, worked his way from the back of the Corner Perk Brunch Cafe to a makeshift stage at the front of the crowded room. He stopped to hug and greet adoring supporters in his path. Mr. Scott, who grew up idolizing professional wrestlers, looked the part of the fan favorite on his way to the ring.
“I am a huge fan of America,” Mr. Scott, 58, the Senate’s only Black Republican, said. “We are the greatest country on God’s green earth.”
He delivered this message to an almost entirely older, white group. But there was a time when Mr. Scott represented the possibility that Republicans could draw a more diverse crowd.
Early in his political career, Mr. Scott stirred excitement among South Carolina’s Republican establishment, which anointed him a rising star who could help broaden the party’s appeal to Black voters. As an at-large member of the Charleston County Council, he set out to test the theory in 1996 by challenging a sitting state senator, a Democrat, in a majority Black district.
But Mr. Scott lost that campaign by 30 percentage points — a “trouncing,” Charleston’s Post and Courier called it.
The lessons of that loss still echo in Mr. Scott’s struggling bid for the Republican nomination for president. Mr. Scott often speaks about race and America on the campaign trail, but he has honed a message of opportunity and resilience, while downplaying the role racism plays in impeding Black progress.
That is a message that largely appeals to white voters and is “just so foreign and alien to most Black people,” according to Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney, the former head of the College of Charleston’s African American history center.
Bottom line,Trump needs a safe VP pick, one that does not anger democrats when they hear their name like Haley,Mitt Romney type or Pence type (we know it wont be Pence but someone bland like him that does not piss off democrats)
Right now this race is 90-10 Trump. If Trump picks someone like Scott or Vivik its 50-50 or even better for Biden. As of now Im voting Trump but I would go back to Biden if Scott or Vivik were Trumps VP pick.
