Election 2024 Foreplay

Partially true and partially TOTALLY FALSE.

Yes, she would be back in play if Trump went away for some reason.

But no, she would not automatically "be the backup of choice." The majority/core of the pub party is MAGA and if Trump left the scene they would be looking for a replacement for him and not automatically default to Haley. They would still be looking for someone who is not Haley.

Don’t discount the million dollars she raised after New Hampshire. That pac money is power and employment for has beens.

Haley will have the second most delegates going into the convention. Don’t get me wrong we all know the MAGA types will go full tard and burn it down so there is that.

The way i am seeing it... Nikki Haley will at least stick around until the results of Super Tuesday (March 5th) are in. If Haley is not leading in several states after Super Tuesday then she will drop out.

Yes. She wants whatever delegates she can get and become the clear second place finisher.

This is how fascists and their supporters operate.

RNC considers announcing Trump as the nominee and effectively canceling the rest of the primary votes.

Yeh but, again, so what?

If the leading candidate with the most delegates drops out, that does not automatically make the second leading candidate number one. Under the RNC rules, if the lead candidate dies/drops out that person's delegates are still bound to vote for him on the first ballot even if he is no longer running. (an exception I think if there is only one candidate left in the race, then they can vote for that person on the first ballot just to wrap things up). So if Trump dropped out/died then all of his accumulated delegates still need to vote for him on the first ballot even though he is not there, then they are freed up on the second ballot to vote for another person. I think if the dropped out candidate still gets a majority the RNC can free up the delegates by vote. The point is that if Trump dropped out, Haley does not automatically become number one. Because Trump's delegates will probably support Desantis, for example, which would put Nikki back in second place.

Threatening your opponent's supporters. What could go wrong?

Nikki should thank Trump for the campaign donation surge.

This will be how the Democrats dump Biden at the convention

Lots and lots of things can happen at a convention with unpledged delegates and that would sure be messy. Trump being the walking tornado he is, it would almost be true to form if he winded up in jail and the GOP convention ended up in a giant brawl. We can only hope. As a matter of fact we deserve an ending like that for the snoozefest of a primary season we’ve had to endure. Lock him up!
