The answer is: Tim suddenly unveiled a girlfriend at the debate.

Y'all may remember that I used to trash Sparticus Booker for shamelessly getting a rent-a-girlfriend for his campaign to tamp down the rumors about his "orientation" and the like. And I said that he would promptly be separating from her after the campaign. Which he did. Or she did.

Similarly, Tim acquired an "accoutrement" for the campaign.
