Except it is only a matter of hours +/- before large numbers of Americans and the media feel that it is a critical time to decide whether Biden should be given another chance or whether they have had enough.

Piling additional insecurities related to energy into the near future does not help Biden. He is already one slip on a banana peel away from enough is enough.

Sorry but Biden and his ilk have used up the "just watch me there is a long way to go before the election" routine. The problem is that people have been watching him and they have been watching/experiencing the economy too. All the slides showing that everything is groovy and the best time evah, notwithstanding.

Democratic Party leaders are not listening to their voters' concerns about President Biden's age, as they push Biden forward as the party's primary candidate for the 2024 election, a prominent Democratic strategist warned.

"The voters don’t want this, and that’s in poll after poll after poll," James Carville told the New York Times. Worrying these fears could lower voter turnout, he conceded, "You can’t look at what you look at and not feel some apprehension here."

Despite putting on a united front in their support of Biden, party officials have been unable to shake voters' concerns about his age and vitality heading into the 2024 election.

This intraparty fighting between voters and the party's leaders "leaves Democrats confronting a level of disunity over a president running for re-election not seen for decades," the Times reported.

I see, you’re still in that Biden is going to drop out phase. It’s a very Ron DeSantis way of thinking. Biden, and Trump for that matter, aren’t going to just go away. Someone is going to have to actually beat them in the primary.

Biden will run with Diane Feinstein before just dropping out.

I acknowledge that Biden is not of a mind to drop out willingly.

But he is vulnerable to all sorts of developments- not of his choosing.

He could fall on his face tomorrow. We saw how just his slips and gaffes from last week ramped concerns up another level. He is circling the toilet and may not be able to function through the election. Or through the end of next week, whichever comes first.

Or he could fall so low in the polls that Dems think any republican can beat him and panic sets in.

I see what you are saying and what your thinking is. But there are Rumsfeldian forces at play. For Kamala as well.

For someone to challenge Biden they need to get on the primary ballot. For example California’s primary is March 5, 2024 but the primary ballot closes December 15, 2023. If someone was really going challenge Biden they would have to move right now.

It depends on the polling but by and large Trump is surging across the board as he is campaigning and looking to wrap up the Republican nomination rather quickly.

Team Biden seem to be ok with letting Trump cruise through the Republican primaries. I don’t agree with that just like I don’t agree with the other Republican candidates not taking Trump on anywhere and everywhere. But that is the lay of the land. It’s all about settling the Republican nominee in camp Biden right now.

I get this helps yours and @TreeFrogTrader s narratives but that just is what it is. Biden isn’t going to drop out and he’s content to let Trump move with little to no challenge. And yea letting Trump go unanswered will hurt Biden in the polls.

But both of you are underestimating Biden. Which is exactly where he played from in 2020 when he wrapped up the dem nomination in record time and crushed Trump from his basement.

Oh no doubt. That is why the intensity has grown in just the last week. You will find people who are getting very vocal that he needs to not run, then a few weeks will go by and if his detractors are making no progress they swing the other way and go back to supporting him because they see it is then too late and they need to defend whatever has a D after its name.

It's a messy situation. You can control when a person can no longer get on the ballot but you cannot control when Joe might go tits up and have to drop out. It is nightmare to have Joe drop out, a nightmare to have him stay in and would be an ultra-nightmare for him to drop out after it was too late for viable opponents to get in and develop campaigns.

I am not sure what the DNC rules are. I think if the nomination process has occurred and the nominee has to step down, then the vice presidential candidate, if named takes that the nomination. But I don't think that is the case if the nomination has not happened yet if the presumed nominee/sitting drops out. I don't. I am little hazy on that and I think the DNC might be as well. So you may or may not automatically get Kamala on the ballot if Joe drops out depending on the stage of process that he hypothetically drops out.

What a mess. Joe has a lot to lose if he messes up. Right now he thinks his legacy is going to be that he is the guy who saved the country from Trump returning. But if he loses to Trump, it will be ugly. He becomes the selfish prick who put himself ahead of party and country and stood in the way of letting others step up to run against Trump. Think about it Joe. What are you doing, mate?
