I think Ron has Cabinet position written all over him but he is not ready to move up to teh big show. Much like the dems, GOP don't yet have the new start set to step up but it is early....

Pubs need to work out what they want and how early they want to do the deep soul searching/reality check needed that goes with it.

There is plenty of polling and indication that lots of republicans want Trump but don't think he is the one to beat Biden.

Everyone needs to do their own thinking on that and they better get going. If you want Trump to be the nominee but not win the general election, well, we just saw that, and it sucks.

If, however, one thinks Trump can win the nomination and also win the general, well, okay, then they have done their thinking and there we have it. And good luck.

For a lot of obvious reasons people harken back to Trump's 2016 race to see what kind of animal we got going. Thats okay. But he also lost a race to Joe Biden.

Ron may not be ready for prime time, and we will probably end out electing someone for president who is not ready for prime time regardless of whether dem or pub. Not being ready for prime time is not necessarily a barrier to becoming president. It does not help but it is not a barrier. Think about not-ready-for-prime time Ron running against not-ready-for-prime-time Kamala. heh.

He would have been a force to deal with. But they damaged him and took him out. Yeh. He brought it on himself but whether such things that did get looked at or not are a matter of political choice. We also get that he does not want to prosecute the case.

So the games begin where he basks in the indictment but then pretends to be deferring prosecution to help the other cases. Not clear how he can pull that off now.

Not sure how that will square the right of a defendant to have a speedy trial per the constitution. Usually prosecutors deal with that by sealing the indictment and then holding off on the actual charging but if they book and charge Trump the clock starts.

Can a federal indictment be challenged?

Yeah, I think The NY Times scuttled any chance of keeping the indictment under seal through April.

I would expect Trump to slow the proceedings to crawl as he makes his case in public, as is his usual way. I don’t expect any of this to go speedy.

I think a lot of this will depend on whether or not the payment to the playboy playmate is part of the case. I don’t think Stormy gets much sympathy in a courtroom or the court of public opinion. But that other woman is downright wholesome and if she becomes a character in this show then this thing can take a turn from what most of us expect.
