They may not have an obligation but arguably still should be held to account for how their actions line up with their previously stated intent.
Hannity has previously stated that he will provide an opportunity for all declared candidates- including dems. If he meant to say- "except if I don't like them or pre-judge them to be unelectable" then he should have said that.
He has Larry Elder, Maryanne Williamson, Vivek, RFK , Asa Hutchinson, etc. on there and they have slim to no chance of being elected too. Arguably too, Christie has a better chance of being elected than they do.
Also, the criteria for debates is neither here nor there in regard to being accepted for appearance on TV townhall type programs. The network hosts can do whatever they want, but are properly held to account for what they do and not do so that the public can evaluate both whether the candidate is being weasely and whether the host is also comporting as an agenda-driven weasel.
I would like, for example, to learn more about Doug Burgum and heretofore assumed he might be on Hannity since Hannity said he will have any and all on. But now I don't know. Maybe Hannity will pull out his batman decoder ring and decide he does not make the cut. Or maybe it will go the other way and he will decide that maybe he will decide that Burgum might be an unknown but deserves a look-see. Or maybe he will conclude that he is looking too good and he does not want the public to see anyone who is a threat to Trump.
The reality is that both the lefty and conservative media are reporting on the Christie arrival 24/7 now. So the argument that he is too far out of the public eye and interest to warrant being considered in a townhall grows weaker by the day. He is just not convenient for some. He is not convenient for either. I wish the fat slob would just go away but unlike the FBI/DNC I don;t immediate start plotting on how to suppress candidates just because I don't like them,
Hannity looking like a weasel and pussy here. I expect he will reconsider just because Christie will drive viewers. That's how they roll.

As discussed, Manchin may or may not enter at some point under some circumstances, but it is becoming increasingly clear that his Senate career is about to end. Making a presidential run could serve to help him hide the humiliation of being ejected by his own people. Or he may prefer to just be humiliated. Either way, his Senate career is over, even though he was just recently and maybe still is one of the two most important votes in DC, along with Lisa Murkowski. That game is going to end.
Keep in mind that Axlerod is a dem insider commenting on a dem senator and he is not anxious to lose any dem senators so his words probably do not roll off his tongue easily- the fact that he is a born bloviator notwithstanding.

“I don’t want to be unkind to Sen. Manchin, but he’s kind of dead man walking in West Virginia. There’s nowhere for him to go,” Axelrod said Monday on CNN This Morning.
“He’s got a popular Republican governor in the state that Donald Trump carried by almost 40 points. He didn’t win by very much last time," he said. "So, he knows that he can’t win reelection in that state."
