I hear ya.

I think Newsom has already played 3-D chess and pretty effectively too. He wants Adam Schiff as Senator but does not want to be tagged with supporting a whitey tighty male over a black woman, so he appointed the temp senator to fulfill his promise to appoint a black woman. Knowing that Barbara Lee probably cannot win against Schiff or against Katie Porter. But if the voters choose one of them and Barbara Lee loses, well that's on the voters.

Laphonza is up against a formidable set of opponents and probably cannot win. But to have "senator" on her resume is a plus - a defeat would not be. And then she can return to the DC area again to work with some K-street organization or in a Newsom administration. She is basically a lobbyist/advocate type. Being Senator for short stint puts another feather in her cap. The winner in all of that so far is Schiff. If Newsom had appointed Barbara Lee should be hard to evict from that office.

Some of these No Labels types dream of a Larry Hogan/Liz Cheney type of ticket. Cheney would figure she could get 10% of the vote and that it would be enough for Trump to lose so - according to her suicide vest logic- she would be a martyr who fulfilled her sworn duty to keep Trump from being elected.

Don't underestimate how far gone in the head she is.

Mind you that I am just describing her psychosis not rationalizing it. It's like Christie. She and Christies have a clinical level of butthurt from the beating they got from Trump and it dominates their psyche. Christie thinks he is a suicide bomber too doing his duty to Allah. Everyone else just wishes that Christie and Cheney would just go home.

What's happening is, this type of mindset is becoming normalized via social media. What we once thought was limited to CA, has spread rapidly across all of America and the C-suites across the board are scrambling to figure out a PC way to fix it. There is none. You steal... you go to jail. Case closed. Christie's stance on this to date.... has been just that. Law abiding folks will take note. And a big percentage of those are registered, active voters.
