Elaine Garzarelli . . .

Quote from plugger:

Actually, she has made quite a few excellent calls. Last time I saw her in an interview, she was debating Bill Fleckenstein. It was right after the second Iraq war, around May 2003, and she was calling for a cyclical bull market in U.S. equities. She nailed it exactly on the head.

Fleck, on the other hand, was looking for a pop and drop. While i think he has some good ideas and certainly knows enough not to fight the tape, he was wrong.

As for her one big call (1987), she did get it right. Call it luck or what you may, but it launched her career. She's managing hundreds of millions now and most important of all, making money for her clients. That is what it's about.

No slam intended to you ice, but i think the lady is certainly due her respect.

is her hair still really curly?

i saw abby joseph cohen on cnbc today. not only looks like a man, but is named like one, too. probably a sharp cookie, herself. I think mario gabelli looks more feminine, though. no offense, mr. gabelli.

what a blast from the past these two are. brings back some great memories. Was Lou Rukeyser on, too?

check out where she stands in the chart: from BigPicture, btw

Funny you should post that. I was just there and read that myself. If that's accurate, her prediction is looking a tad rich.

What show did she come on? Is this really true that she commented a 4% decline. It's a pity in that case.

Just a few months back, she said that the S&P would go to 1370. Yep, not 1270., but 1370 by the end of 2005-ie. this year.

Hard to imagine her models can suddenly switch to 4% decline.

And a lot of terrible calls. She is just one of those talking heads that makes calls in general, and hopes something sticks.

For a few years I regularly received mailings from her asking to sign up for her "news" service. The calls promoted in the mailings were most often way off target.

Nobody - NOBODY - has a look into the future of the market anymore than the newest trader on this board.

I find it interesting that this Business Week 2006 Outlook that was posted above fails to mention any targets from notable Wall Street market strategists such as Tom McManus.

Strange sampling.
