Any individual that buys and holds that to maturity will likely completely forget about it by the time 100 years is up, not to mention that $500 million dollars will likely only have about 1 million worth of buying power in 100 years. So go and buy $10k worth of those bonds and in 100 years your grandkids will likely have $50 worth of purchasing power. Probably not enough to fill up the tank on their personal spaceship.
