Edward O. Thorp on charting

You mean like your buddy Linda? And why is your watch the most prominent thing in the picture? Are you really that insecure?

This is so distasteful. A thread about Ed Thorpe, a Mount Rushmore figure in quant finance, has degenerated to personal attacks by gutter-dwellers. :wtf:

I wear a watch, that makes me insecure? #TWISTED and you are #DESPERATE sounding Fred--- just proves you really can't defend your beliefs, like the others on here.

You have to show your various prized possessions "incidentally" in just about every picture you post. And they almost always figure more prominently than the thing you're supposedly showing. It's so pathetic it's laughable.

Smithers? Is that you?

the topic of the post, my shirt? My, you are #twisted and #sad

While there may be methods I am not aware of, i firmly believe that any type of past price analysis does not provide an edge--other than for comparison and descriptive purposes.

There is a forecasting edge in past price analysis, but it disappears within seconds, and not at bar chart level as @lovetotrade mentioned.

I've already dealt with Schwartz here, but the price action cultists didn't reply. He clearly took advantage of temporary edges and information gaps that existed in the 80s. If he were a pure price action trader, his track record should've continued since then. Yet no one knows how he's done since his book was published in '98. He probably just retired, realizing the markets were getting too hard to beat with his methods.

He spent 2000-2009 trading oil options then moved back to SP options. Is an option seller. Listen to the first 4 minutes of this interview from 2015.

Poor guy, so misunderstood. Like when you had to post a picture of yourself ostensibly going to the office in your Maserati (logo on full display). Oh, and you had to point out that the watch you were shown wearing costs more than the car. So subtle...

Seriously, what are you compensating for?
