Does anyone here download insider trading data from EDGAR's FTP site? I'm trying to figure out how to do it. The data folder (ftp.sec.gov/edgar/data) is empty when I open it up. Anyone know why? I am using Bullet Proof FTP.

ftp.sec.gov/edgar/

I ftp'ed one directories up and you can see mulitple directories full of data that is current. Maybe someone goofed. Company Data and filings were current through 1/24/2006. The data directory was empty or no longer has the correct permissions assigned.

Just looks like a typical example of gov't in action! :-)

Pic of the directory. I was to lazy to open my actual ftp client I normally use. Just cut and pasted your url into IE.

Hello,

I know this is from a long time ago, but for my research at NYU Sterns, I was able to write a python script that reads the EDGAR RSS Feeds and download the most recent insider trading forms ( Form 4, and related ones).

I'm trying to build analytics using it.

Curious, how are you using Form 4 data ? Signals??
