Communism was'nt broken, it has'nt died. it just morphed into the the Straussian neoconservative movement. The basic underlying atheistic philosophy is the same.
The basic Straussian tenet ( read up on Leo Strauss) is the average Joe is too dumb to be allowed to think and act for himself. Hence the necessity for a strong state ( the "wise" men and elite who maintain power) to control his actions to keep him from harming himself. In the process of control, it is the obligation and inherent right of the "wise"/ state to lie and propagate misinformation to subjugate the masses to do the states bidding.
Once you study Straussian philosophy (or garbage, depends on how you look at it), the necessity for the current state of deceit and the morphing lies for the reason for war become all too apparent. It's a textbook execution of ideas from the Straussian fieldbook. Another interesting field of research is who funded the communist movement and who are at the core of the initial neocon movement.
