call me crazy,but i believe those 'common' patters aren't working anymore(as stated by THOMAS BULKOWSKI) on stocks simply because there is no more 'typical' market participants(as they are described in market micro-structure book). it's just a few bots from major firms shoveling shares back and forth all day long.buying or selling for their clients(such as pension plans) and they care less about double top or head and shoulders. it is a mom and pop wannabe 'traders',who read those 'common' books about common patterns and make them work. but they aren't trading anymore. and this is why all this 'common' s*** aren't working. once again-i'm talking about COMMON STOCKS that use to be traded by common people.

PS-read disclaimer at the beginning of this thread about my formal education and IQ level.i'm nobody,below average joe the plumber level guy.
 
The market exists, at any one moment, in two parts.

(1) Auction System (Price: Bid, Ask, Last)
(2) Volume(s)

Magnification can be applied to (1) creating a 'naturally' extended format of the original (fractal). This will form the algorithmic base.

That said, I see all kinds of repeating patterns, but they are quite fast and its not the stuff usually written about.

I'd love to see whatever you are referring to. Not a whole lot of price action looks to me to be signal related in the sense that one could predict from past activity, but I'm always willing to learn.

Nyquist should only come into play as a minimum sampling frequency required to get good conversion. Fourier series (unless on limited, bounded data sets) are unrelated -- Fourier integrals, maybe.
