While it is illegal to produce or distribute child pornography in Japan, possessing it is not â an anomaly Japan shares with only one other G8 nation, Russia. The release last month of national police agency figures showing a dramatic rise in the number of known child pornography cases coincides with new calls for the government to take action. I live in the center of Tokyo. The roads are one big parking lot. Almost all of the trains and subways are not running and they won't be for the rest of the day. Streets are full of people walking home. It's like the football game just ended and people are pouring out. Most can't walk that far to home so they've emptyed the conveinience storess and are eating and sleeping in train stations and office buildings. Aftershocks of 3 and 4 on the Japanese scale of 7 are occurring 5 to 10 times an hour.

The National Weather Service is warning that a tsunami created by the deadly Japan earthquake could hit California shoreline areas between 7:23 a.m. and 8 a.m. Pacific Time.
The worst was expected in northern California, including the San Francisco area. A tsunami warning was issued for that area, the Los Angeles Times reported. Vancouver, British ColumbiaVancouver, British Columbia, also may be hit.
For areas along the southern California coast, from Los Angeles to San Diego, a tsunami advisory was issued.
The Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964 killed 11 people in Crescent City, California, one of the areas threatened today.
People living in areas likely to be hit were warned to "move immediately inland to higher ground and away from all harbors and inlets, including those sheltered directly from the sea."
Earthquake and tsunami centers said at least 53 Pacific Basin countries may be hit, all the way to Colombia and Peru.

Earthquakes are rated on the Japanese scale of 1 to 7. The attached shows how the quake covered most of the country. The X is the location of the quake. Tokyo is located just below the lowest 6+.
