Earthquake & Tsunami in Japan Happening Now

Quote from d08:

31 casualties, the final number will be a lot bigger.
The casualties/human deaths from a magnitude 9 earthquake should be 1 million to 2 million if it directly strikes a big city. But this Japan Earthquake epicenter is 400 km far away in the ocean. So casualties should be less.

It is 400km from Tokyo, not 400km away from the coast. It's 130km from Sendai. 7th biggest of all time, that should tell you something. The deaths will be mostly because of the tsunami, not the actual earthquake.

you guys in California might want to get away from the beaches...

Yeah I just called my Dad, and am waiting on warning rest of relatives to see what happens in Hawaii, he is 1 mile from coast in Laguna Beach. I had to leave a vm.

My condolences to those of you in Japan affected.
