You trade calendars into earnings don't you? That means your taking a view on Forward Vol leading up into the event. In my opinion this is quite odd, however I have not looked into it.
I trade lots of things:
on equities - calendars, straddles, IC's, butterflies, diagonals, and
for non-equities, I trade commodity futures, currencies, treasuries etc.
Without diverting the thread, I've just traded /LE, /HE, /6Y, cocoa, and Oats today.
But coming back to calendars - I generally do 'pre-earnings' calendars - so opening and closing before the event. The DRI example in your journal thread was a one-off 'thru-earnings' calendars, and as I mentioned in one of the posts there, I'm trying to get into doing trades which go across the earnings event.
Also, some underlyings are more suitable for pre-earnings calendars whilst others are more suited to pre-earnings straddles, so I trade accordingly.
