%%Hello
is SPY stock version of E-mini S&P500? If so does it move almost identically?
If SPY isn't, which stock version moves identically as E-mini S&P500?
I am looking to trade SPY by looking at E-mini S&P500 chart and dom.
How much is 4 ticks of ES equal to SPY? Is it 0.04?
During first 2 hours of new york open, how many shares get traded at each 0.01 (1 tick)?
Thanks!
1 E-mini S&P 500 index contract = 500 SPY shares.
1 E-mini SP500 Point = .10 SPY cents.
1 E-mini SP500 Point is $50.00 USD = .10 SPY cents (times 500 shares) is $50.00 USD.
I am not familiar with stock, but for spy typical days I see about 4000 shares on bid and ask. That is only equivalent to 8 contracts ES. Does SPY traded this thinly? Will I encounter slippage if I decide to market buy 20K contracts?
A tick on the ES is $12.50I think your main issue with comparing is that a tick in the ES is .25 cents while in SPY their is no minimum "tick", it can trade at any value. The DOM's aren't comparable.
You claim to trade big but you dont know dick about SPY?
Something doesnt jive here.
Correct. Liquidity issues prevent efficient stop placement and can result in large losses whereas ES is an excellent vehicle to trade with great confidence in being able to risk manage effectively.SPY is inferior to ES because it's an ETF and has less liquidity. ES has over 10x the $-volume traded per day. And ES is almost 24 hrs trading...
