Effectively, with this line of thoughts there should be mass confessions.
The approach I went through was a little bit different.
First I went through reading all about confessing and the sacrement of reconciliation/penance.
So that I could understand the difficulties linked to confessing, why one has difficulties remember the sins,
and most importantly why one has difficulty confessing to a priest, etc. The role of a good priest during confession.
Then I had my first confessing session ( after a week of daily prayers to come with my first laundry list).
For each sin, we discovered more than 10 linked to each one. The analysis of each one , the understanding of the gravity of each single sin, etc. And that was the first session, the first of many others. Each one brought its own insights, till after all the "junk" was removed, one can just deal with sins of thoughts, intention and sins in the heart ( wishing illwill to someone is actually a sin).
Because of the approach I went through, I find it difficult to not examin thoroughly every single sin one has committed.
