Thanks for the suggestion about trying different combos, I'll try it. One thing is the Nvidia card is an AGP card and the Appian is a PCI card. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. As far as Win98 vs. XP goes, like I mentioned, I bought and installed XP on a new hard drive, but with my 500 mhz P3 and slow connection it just didn't do well at all. I'm just in a temporary situation where dialup is the only option. I had a cable modem before but not here. So anyway, as I mentioned, until I switched to RealTick which didn't like the Appian driver under 98, everything worked fine. When I get a broadband connection again I'll switch back over to WinXP on my new hard drive. In the meantime I'm faking it as best I can. Anyone else have any ideas to make this work? Thanks guys.

I can't correct you because I have no idea what are you talking about. Please point me to the reference to "the IRQ windows management" and "wait states from" it. No, do not try to explain it with another baloney, but give me a reference instead. Since you posts are full of the stuff like this I suspected a generator. How can one correct something that does not make sense, huh? A millisecond may not seem like a big difference but to put you in line ahead of others on globex a millisecond is the difference between making money and not. "Interrupts are in some ways the most "famous" system resources, since almost everyone who's used a computer has heard of them--even if they don't know what they are. :^) An interrupt is basically what it sounds like, a message from one part of the computer to another (normally to the system processor) that tells it that it needs to stop what it is doing, and do something else instead. An IRQ is an interrupt request, and is the name for the actual signal that is used when a peripheral requests an interrupt of the processor.

OK guys, didn't have the patience to read the thread, but just picked a Colorgrapghics Evolution 4 card from Ebay fo $33 including postage. (PCanytime, Canadian).
Analogue only, but it works without a hitch on my system.

My system worked fine with just the Appian card running 3 monitors in W98 but when I switched to RealTick, RT didn't like the Appian driver for W98. Anyway, I tried several more things and did some research but am back to just using the Nvidia card and one monitor, but I'll try what you're saying and if I can't get it to work I'll just buy some cheap dual card on eBay or something like that and switch back to my Appian card once I get a broadband connection again and upgrade my mainboard and processor and run it all under XP Pro on my new hard drive. One thing I found in my research is that there are a few cards, and this Nvidia may be one, that can't be installed with another card to run multiple monitors. Unfortunately, Nvidia doesn't offer tech support to individuals but I'll see if that's it. So thanks for your help and if anyone else has any good ideas let me know.
I could easily saturate and eight way 1.6 Xeon MP system "trading." Further, if I used the TCP/IP stack to try and take advantage of the "trade" I would probably miss it.
Instead of puting people down, why don't you simply start offering to help those that need it and stop sounding like you know what you are talking about without offering help.

A steal indeed. It's a real bargain for this good but just a bit outdated (1998) card. Note, it's got only 4MB of memory (per display). Nonetheless I'd rather take my chances with new Jaton 3DFORCE S-64 QUAD AGP card which you can have (as of today) for $46 including s&h:
