dual-redundant network connections

Hi,

I want to have both DSL and cable internet, connected to two different network cards on my computer. It is a PC running Windows Vista (yes, I know).

My question is, will packets route seamlessly through whichever connection is less busy or, if one connection goes out, through the other one? Or is there software that will do this? (Just trying to avoid having to get a dual-WAN router).
