Down to about $90k, where would you park it if your trading skills were trash?

Okay so a bit of a drop. Not easy to deal with but you didn't lose it all like some have you have a nice amount to work with.

Was it mostly with options?

For now you can make around 4500 a year in cds or just plop it in spy even though at highs and just let it sit...

best bet may be to buy 10k worth of spy every month and add accordingly as you save more money.

Yes most was with options. Huge positions on absolutely ridiculous plays. Had a few home runs but would end up thinking I knew something and get wrecked...I cannot describe how horrible some of these bets were lol I look back and can just shake my head...pure gambling.

Moved to futures and been doing it the right way. 1-2% risk per trade waiting for setups that i worked pretty hard to create. Still losing money. What looks like a solid setup in hindsight is worthless live as price movement through long bars/candles will stop me out. I'm just not a good trader and thats ok.

The loses have been over the course of about 4 years, initially yes it was crazy painful as I had to face legit failure from something I poured a Ton of effort into for the first time (pretty much have excelled at everything I've given a solid go to in life). The worst part probably was the fact that not only myself but everyone close just expected it to work out for me as well...nothing but support from family even now my wife wants me to continue and has 100% faith. lol...whoopsie daisy.

But it's not a big deal these days I'm at peace with it.

Was so waiting for that comment...

Up 50 this week adding an entire $120 billion in market capitalization or an entire Goldman Sachs with close to 50,000 employees.
.
Yep no bubble here. Move along now...I bet if he bought 90k worth of nvda it would be down 20% by spring.
Yea I'm not about to buy any individual company.

Yea so I don't have an edge and just lose money constantly. Execution is solid, psychology decent, edge is poop.

Looking to just put some cash in longer term spots. VOO will probably get a portion of it but where else should I look? Any book or resource recommendations on liquid allocation? Not really interested in single company investments.

S&P made around 25% last year...did your trading account do better? Legit question if anyone outside of maybe Des and a few others are generating alpha....if my tradong account would have grown 25% last year I'd be pumped.

Thanks.
Good Evening zghorner,

I would keep trading with $1000, and put the rest $89,000 in my savings account until you figure out how to turn $1000 to $1 million in a year in the ES or NQ futures market.

It is too late to get S&P 500 with that amount of money. Dollar cost average S&P 500 index.

You need to figure out how to make alot of money in the ES/NQ futures market. It is not hard as you are thinking it is, you just not talking to the right people or trying enough or looking at the charts and the math.

That is the challenging thing about trading and that is figuring out what the answer is and how to apply it with low risk, and grow capital.

Nah.

By the way for a fun fact here, nvda has added an entire AMD with its market gains. Yes nvda has added over a quarter trillion in market capitalization in just under 3 weeks of trading.

Let that sink in ...nvda has added an entire AMD in 3 weeks in market capitalization......

Something is just not right.

Been there done that, almost same amount. The World turns and turns as if nothing happened. Strange, but you will get out of it. Give it Some time. Goodluck

$1000 to a million in a year??????

Ummmm. Not happening. Now if you said $1000 to maybe 6 or 7k in a year I might believe it.

No one is turning 1000 into a million trading futures.
