Dow low in place

They are money makers in normal times. In financial crises banks need bailouts. They got one in 2008 and will need one now

No question t
And from which source will old world banks garner earnings growth over and above say Technology stocks?
With interest rates scraping the floor and Asian buyers of RE gone dry.

He still lives in old paradigm.

The concept of value investing seems to elude you. The possibility of growth is built into the price of the IT companies; some would argue most IT companies are overpriced. Meanwhile, I identified an absurdly cheap entry point for BMO. What IT stocks do is irrelevant.

From October 2010 :

AAPL and AMZN will be shorts of the millenium very soon

AAPL will stop growing within 2 years if they don't envent something new

That being said if you bought japan bank in late 80, it would not.
I forgot to mention that the bank had the best management at that time among all the Indian Companies listed and that is the main thing. buying well managed companies is a sure way to become filthy rich

if you had bought any Japanese share listed it would not.

the Japanese share index made it' s all time high in 1987 at around 40000 and has been making new lows since.

this is amazing since from 1994 onwards Japanese companies are among the best in the world

however if you had bought any share in any country in 1980 …..many companies would not have lasted 40 years
