Markets could return to pre-Covid levels, but too many small businesses got destroyed for the economy to get back to where it was without reinventing itself. The good thing about the US is that it is better than most economies at doing that.

Agree. And even if they did Biden most likely won't raise top earners rates all the way back to 39%.
Yeah, he's really stuck between a rock and a hard place and my best guess is that he's a one-term President. He can rejoin the Paris Accord and issue some executive orders but that's about the extent of it. Other than Biden, this cycle was a disaster for the Dems and in November '22 most of the seats up for election are Democrat. There is definite and palpable fragility in the economy and radically changing tax rates or energy infrastructure has got quite a bit of downside to it.
So we figure out what sectors may benefit most.

Yea I'd say Biden is a one-termer strictly because of age and umm age of his brain. Chumpie too but most wingnuts won't own up to that.
Likewise I believe Dems as usual overplayed their hands and "should" have done much better considering the current environment.
If Biden doesn't make it a full term, due to health/age issues, Harris could possibly win next good round. Who knows though. Otherwise it will be up for grabs for any particular D or R who gets the backing and mood of country right. Doubt that will be Chumpie II like some are already talking about. Be hard enough to get him out of the WH bunker this time.
But down the line, depending how Republican play things they may lay the groundwork for a run and possible win by .... don't laugh AOC 8,12, 16 years from now. The pendulum swings and, as it did for Chumpie, wildly one direction and at some point wildly the other direction.
The World has had enough Trump. He just exasperated everyone. In many ways I think it would have been strategically better for Democrats if Trump had won re-election - it would have set them up better for '22 and '24 and it would have finally run off Nancy Pelosi.
