I'd rather have a competitive marketplace and neither a US nor a European monopoly/duopoly. Too bad S&P controls who can market S&P futures. At least there is no trademark on Treasurys and currencies.

Actually, I was reading (don't know where) that the CME and CBOT consider the size, tick size, expiration, etc. proprietary on their financial contracts since they were the ones to analyze, market , and develop them. Should be interesting to see how this situation works out next year.
