I was laughing when I saw in the May 2003 issue of active trader - a basic analysis and trading method for taking advantage of opening gaps.

Basically you read between the lines, and the stats models the opening plays as discussed here on this board.

We have been discussing the strategies in several publications. Some get it right, some dont'. But since most traders cannot put in a couple of $million workth of orders every morning, it seem to be reamainng a game for the more proficient.

Dont' get me wrong, I made money....but was distracted, and completely read FNM wrong....covered a short, seconds before it dumped....what "shoulda been over a $1000 opening ended up around $220. Must be the Monday morning stupiditiies....

THis question is mostly for Don but if anyone has any insightful words they would be appreciated but... do you ever eliminate stocks from your rotation solely on the fact that you NEVER get a fill on them? i have a good core group of about 10-15 and have been trying ot work that number up, i have a "farm team" of about another 10-15 that i try with smaller size but some NEVER get filled so i am thinking when they actually DO get filled maybe i dont want it (b/c it will prob. have to be a lock limit end of the world type day) b/c on a busy day with several fills is when i would most likely get filled and i dont need its fill then, i need the help on the slower days so i can get closer to the 4-5 fills day average vs. teh 1-3 i have now....
bottom line to i cut the dead weight or not?
the argument for keeping them in is in rare instances i have a stock that wont fill for months but then becomes active for say a week where i cash in before returning to its no fill ways...

while i am posting did anyone do HRB today? i was filled involuntarily (thought i took it out, when i double checked i didnt see the order, but apparenty it was there) and got smacked around like a cheap corner girl.... but if you hung or bought back in it was a good trade.. i personally missed the buy back.

This is a long term strategy, so if you don't get filled for a while, wait and see....but as you said, no reason to keep "dead weight" on the list.
