Don's openings Part 3

Don we definitely do our openings very differently. Most of my exits took over an hour to finally get them.

I was long off the bat heavily this morning with the gap down, had to sit through being down a point (getting near the max I'm willing to lose) futures finally broke and made about 2 points total.

My brother held on quite a bit longer too...he made 40 cents on AOL (I scratched)....hey, as long as we're making money, right?

Rob, you've mentioned before that you will sit through adverse movement to get your win. What is the point, then, of getting the opening print? If it offers no advantage over getting in later?

4 for 6 today, .8 envelope....+$920

I didn't get my "slingshot" in for TXN this morning....he opened down, shot way up, and then I sold it (still up, but back down 25cents)....

I got out of HD too soon (great 20/20 hindsight!)....still 2 out of 3 winners for $280.

Someone remind me after next week (I'll be in Denver for a presentatino on the 21st and 24th), and I will bring forward some new info about volatility plays, and how you may want to incorporate them into not only your openings, but your overall trading strategies("Bright Bands" if you will).

We're 'rolling them out' to everyone in Denver, as I said...and I want to field questions before posting anything....so that I'm prepared for all you ET'ers.

Have a good trading day....

Don

How's everyone else doing?....I see fewer contributors, makes me wonder if everyone made so much money that they retired already!!

hey don...i cut my list in half two weeks ago, from about 25 to 12 or 13. i just couldn't watch the tape on the 7-10 or more fills i was getting. now i'm getting, 2-4, though today i had 6. plus, i've pruned my list to slower stocks, and those that have a high probability based on historical testing.

since then, i've had 7 winning days, 2 that were basically flat, and 1 losing day. today was my best, netting 75 cents before commissions.

Today's fills looked promising (big gap down, long positions), but then the market went nowhere for a long time!

This morning we had the Consumer Sentiment number at 9:45 EST. Does anyone have any thoughts about the effects on opening orders when there's a 9:45 economic number due out?
