I'm an equity execution trader for a hedge fund and really enjoy this Journal although I'm not allowed to trade stocks for myself. I'm rooting for all of you guys!

I do have a question - when you take a stock off your list, is that permanent? Do you still monitor it? Will it ever be allowed back on or are you done with permanently?

once gone...out of site...out of mind...

usually they never get put back in unless the specialist changes or a stock split...

i covered as trades started to reverse...if i waited for stops i would have gotten whacked...

Why wouldn't you just use tighter stops?

Or did you see a particular group start to reverse? And if so, couldn't you just tighten the stop on that group? (ie, like a penny under the bid)

It sounds like you are automated

when i use too tight of a stop i get screwed...

i enter automatically but almost always exit hands on...

this am i was able to watch what was going on and was able to exit pretty well...

some days i am too busy to watch and usually get dinged on my stops...

This morning, was it a matter of "feeling" the market or did you notice a particular group going bad and cover just them, or did you cover everything on one side?

i guess it was more of a feeling...i could feel the market stall...

sounds a bit strange but that's how it went...

tried to let the winners run and jumped on the losers...hpq -330...cat +300...were the biggest numbers...
