I've been pretty busy with bootcampers (24 this time, a new record...and we had 54 in our 3 day school...interest in trading is on an upswing it seems).
OK, this week...First the bad news, and a hard lesson. One thing I do to help the new people is verify their Opening only calculations upon their request. To do this, I simply type their stock in my spreadsheet...and then delete them....Well, evidently on Friday last week, I put in TDW (Tidewater, something I would never consider trading, in fact I remember suggesting strongly that the new trader get rid of it). TDW was not on my quote window on Redi....so a few minutes ofter it opened I noticed it in my position window...short 3,000 shares...it opened at .40, next trade .85 showed a gap of .85-.25 which is about where covered, losing nearly $3k....(it went up another dollar, so I felt "ok" but still irritated at myself).
Sooo, anyway...Tuesday I went back to my fully automated program (the other, in bootcamp, simply sends orders, they learn to cover manually at first)....I told them that I couldn't afford to spend any more opening only time with them for a bit, LOL....
Tuesday +$780, Wednesday +$640, today about $350....and I hope to have "really" good Friday to get back to even for the week.
(stupid, stupid, stupid)...
The things I do for my traders to show them what not to do. LOL...
