I don't trade options...yet....just equities and futures. Volatility Breakouts essentially involve taking a measure of normal stock behavior, then searching for abnormal behavior. WHen you find it, you determine direction and run with it.

Mean Reversion, involves searching for over valued/under valued securities, and sell/buy them with the expectation that the values will come back in line.

BOth strategies have their strengths and weaknesses.

Good trading!

LOL, well I took C and MCD out of my openings this morning. Then I rebooted my worksheet, they were both back in....took a bit of a ride, but actually netted up with those two plus 2 more stocks. Anyway, up$400 today.

Boot camp starts today, but I'll try to keep up with you guys.

3 long, 2 winners (small despite the opening surge), 1 loser, scratch -9

I may be joining mschey on the OPG bench. There seems to be a drought going on; if not, I suck and need to retool. But usually when things are better you get more posters to the OPG board.

Had YUM short and took a little heat before it plunged. Picked up a little under a $1, and traded it a little too. Lost .50 on HOT and made +.19 on SWN.
