Don's openings and more for 2005

Good job, Peil...but "on accident" worries me a bit, LOL.

I got zip, nada, zero....3 days in a row...(good thing my pairs have been coming in).

To All: Thanks for the advice.

Today result:

38 Orders, 2 filled.

Winner: S (SHORT, 11 cents)
Loser: KO (LONG, 6 cents)

I tightened my envolope to .5% today, but still got 2 fills only.

I am urging my branch to put up the Opening Order, but for now.. i juz have to stick w/ Limit Bid/Offer :(

Time to change brokers/firms...you can't play the game when don't have the tools.

There are retail firms who will allow you to enter OO orders.

I would like to know what are you avg. opening order sizes?? 500, 1000??

I have IB so which order type do i use...

is it one of these?
market on open or limit on open??

Ya you shouldve seen the look on my face when all those fills came in...I moved my envelope from .5 to .6 today...i got all these messages saying my sell orders were a penny under, so i figured i would have time to change them all instead of just moving the envelope to .7 Didnt count on accidently sending buy orders twice and i didnt want to be long 3000 shares so i canceled them first. Im thinking i should start putting in my opening orders before 7:25 now in case this happens again :D
 
3 fills out of (83 stocks/166 orders)

S Short made 116.34 on 1000 shares
WFT Short made 69.43 on 1000 shares
CFC Long made 176.46 on 1000 shares.

total net $362.23

It's a limit order with the Time in Force column set to OPG.

I'd start small (100shrs) until you're sure you have your calcuations, etc correct. No point paying extra for your education.

I find that 2,000 is good for most stocks, a bit more for stocks like TWX or GE.

It seems as though traders at Bright are taught to place orders at the open with the idea that they get in at a certain price and soon after get out.

Do most Bright traders trade throughout the day or is the open the primary trading period? At the prop firm I trained at we were told to stay off the keyboard at the open and grind it out 'til 4pm.

I have a couple questions which might lead to proprietary answers. Feel free to generalize.

- What is the criteria for picking stocks for that morning?
- How do you determine the buy, stop and sell prices?
