Agreed, I expect that it will become even tougher over the summer. I have seen increasing VOL on the positions I am taking at the open. The squeezes when you are wrong are very tough to bear.

Today was good though, +4400!

took loss on mwd long -11

took a big loss on tgt long. i wasn't trading (buy/sell) on the way down. i was buying & holding it on the way down. loss aversion? i didn't pick lowest point of the day to sell, but i didn't listen to what i read on the tape neither.

all the shorts went well... they were all 10-13pennies range. there were pretty big gaps on the NYOB once the stocks opened.
 
Very unusual week for me, got hit bad in the first three days, and made big these past two (days), for a big swing each time (over 1000), Ended up flat for the week. Very choppy, always 1 or two stocks that were killers. But in the up day, smaller profits on many stocks and no big hits. A good relief just to come up flat..

Just a thought on opening, I think each one has their slightly different style. For me, holding shakeouts is very risky cause you never really know if it is a shakeout inspite of ones familiarity with the stocks. Beside,s how would you watch a stock intensely while having multiple positions (sometimes more than 7 fills which I consider the most one can watch each tick and OB movement).
I would think that if you have a good cushion (profits) from other stocks that you can consider holding some losers a bit longer because mentally you can still fit to objectively observe the market. However, when you are in red and under pressure, it would not be a good proposition to hold on a shakeouts. I remember one of Don's posting that mentioned he would immediately get out as soon as he see first bad quote against him (e.e. long position and seeing big offer)

things seem to be pretty consistant....

i think it all has to do with your stock selection....

i find by not being greedy i can hit singles...works for me

someday i hope to be as big as mschey and lescor....

my p&l per share is not to far from what they are doing...

i just trade a lot smaller....for now..
