Mr. Lieu displayed some interesting body language. He initially had his hands together in what is referred to as a “steeple”, or a high confidence display. As Mrs. Owens continued her testimony, Mr. Lieu continued to maintain his steeple but his started fingers going back and fort from toching and non touching each other. This seems to indicate that Mr. Lieu became uncomfortable with Mrs. Owen’s testimony. In addition, Mr. Lieu had to know he was going to be facing some heat from the speaker beforehand. It would be more natural for most people to have a more defensive or at least neutral posture from the beginning. This leads me to believe Mr. Lieu is body language aware and planned to display a confident posture in advance of Mrs. Owen’s testimony.
One technique poker players use, and I would imagine attorneys use as well, is to say something that is likely to get the target out of their comfort zone. This requires a bit of homework, but in the battle of public opinion, it is a necessity.

Trump personally pushed Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to follow through on the plan, the source said. Nielsen resisted and the DHS legal team eventually produced an analysis that killed the plan, which was first reported by The Washington Post.
The proposal is another example of Trump's willingness to enact hardline immigration policies to deliver on border security, a key issue for his political base. Thursday's reports come as the President has amplified his rhetoric on illegal immigration in recent weeks, even threatening to close the southern border if Congress and Mexico don't take action.
White House senior adviser Stephen Miller urged senior DHS officials to make the plan a reality, the source said. The plan finally died after Miller and other White House officials pushed it in February, according to the source.
