As I said I am not even touching the racial discussions on this. My biggest problem with Trump as with many politicians is they will never admit they are wrong. But Trump has taken it to a whole new level. Rather than simply redirect as many do, he either denies he ever said that (despite tweets and video showing he did) or he simply doubles down on it and refuses to admit he is wrong.
Both of these issues supports many claims about him.
This is a really dangerous trait and what bothers me most about him. You cannot be in that position and be that arrogant and stubborn because we know for sure he is being advised by people around him and simply ignoring it if they disagree with him because he is never wrong.
Add to that his die hard supporters also become apologists and never admit he was wrong or what he did was stupid. We all know that one person in our circle who is never wrong, always has to have the last word and never backs down even when confronted with evidence they are wrong. We call them assholes and try to avoid hanging out with them.
This said by Trump:
Forty million dollars is a lot of money for the taxpayers of New York to pay when we are already the highest taxed city and state in the country. The recipients must be laughing out loud at the stupidity of the city.
Speak to the detectives on the case and try listening to the facts. These young men do not exactly have the pasts of angels.

Not once does he say that 5 men went to prison for years and were later exonerated, he just thinks they are laughing at the money they received, not the years of outrage and hate and false accusation. Trump gets accused of one little thing and he loses his vagina, imagine getting accused of brutal murder and rape and going to prison for years only to have the police finally saw, oops we believe you now. What about the 5 men who were hurt and affected.
And their past? Not really angels? What the fuck is that shit? they DID NOT COMMIT THE CRIME! But because they are brown skinned and not angels they should go to prison for something they did not do?

Trumps 42% approval rating got Dems 10 million more votes in 2018.
One great thing about the president's 50% approval rating is that it is calculated accurately based on respondees without a biased left or right sampling. Little by little over the years Democrats have used polling from increasingly left biased companies to attempt to influence the electorate. The president's approval is likely higher than 50% due to the fact that he is not really a pollable candidate as many Trump supporters will answer polls wrong or hangup as part of a rebel cause.
