A potential victory for Donald J. Trump may hinge on one important (and large) group of Americans: whites who did not attend college.

Polls have shown a deep division between whites of different education levels and economic circumstances. A lot rides on how large these groups will be on Election Day: All pollsters have their own assessment of who will show up, and their predictions rely on these evaluations.

A reminder here that the education correlation is among whites only. Nonwhites may have other priorities in assessing Mr. Trump. A reader, Space Needle from Seattle, wondered if Trump supporters were “simply angry about their perceived loss of power in a society growing increasingly diverse.” An article in The Times today explores “white anxiety that has fueled political tumult” not just in the United States, but throughout the Western world.

Perhaps the demographic factor is not so much one’s college experience, but rather the level of exposure a person has to persons of different social, sexual and cultural backgrounds, education levels, wealth and ethnicity, i.e. diversity. — David, California

Suburban and moderate white voters may be uncomfortable with more explicit appeals to racial, ethnic and religious resentment — and those who have the college credential would have less reason for scapegoating. Some studies have shown that education can increase tolerance, but there’s also evidence suggesting the effect can be overstated when it comes to race.
 
Why is it we never hear the media or anyone from the left insulting the education level of Blacks and Hispanic voter? Some statistics:

"Only 4 percent of blacks age 25 or older in 1962 had a college degree, while 10 percent of whites did. In 2012, 21 percent of blacks had a college degree and 31 percent of whites did, meaning the gap grew from 6 percentage points to 10 percentage points."

"Among racial/ethnic groups, Asian/Pacific Islander students had the highest graduation rate at 93.5 percent. The rates for other groups were 83.0 percent for White students, 71.4 percent for Hispanic students, 69.1 percent for American Indian/Alaska Native students, and 66.1 percent for Black students.

“Our high school dropout rate is still unsustainably high for a knowledge-based economy and still unacceptably high in our African-American, Latino, and Native-American communities,” Duncan said."

A good 90% of Blacks will vote democratic, and at least 80% of Hispanics will vote the same way.

Now we can all agree that without the Black and Hispanic voting block the democratic party would have about as much going for it as a fart in a hurricane. So which party is it really that is totally dependent on the less educated voter? That's a redundant question for anyone with just average intelligence.
