Donald Trump speech - the boy who cried wolf

I am not a Trump fan. However I believe this is one of his better recent speeches. He stayed on message and delivered the key points that ring with his supporters while staying away from off- the-cuff controversial statements. He also outlined the many failures of Democratic administrations (50 large cities, etc.).

Do I believe he had any concrete, feasible policies to deliver on his talking points? No.

Will this speech help his campaign? Yes.

I did find it amusing to see the CNN commentators scrambling to find anything realistic to bash in his speech and coming up empty & confused.

People who accuse trump of having no policy objectives haven't bothered to listen to any of speeches or read his campaign platform freely available on his website.

These are all just regurgitated left wing talking points that have zero basis in fact. More trash.
 
The media caught on that giving Trump free publicity was a mistake. They got numbers but they also revealed the fact that an awful lot of people agreed with him.

Now they do not actually report what he says. They filter it and declare it all crazy or dangerous or un-American. Repeated enough times, the gullible public begins to accept it as fact. Their eyes glaze over.

And why wouldn't you believe what Trump says? It's not that hard. Who supports the police and who supports BLM? Who wants to stop muslim immigration and who wants five times as many as Obama let in? Who wants our allies to pay for their own defense and who wants to continue our current world policeman policies?

Uh, he already has your vote pal. If you (and more importantly Trump) want to win over people like me (in other words, millions of voters) he has to appeal to what I care about. What you just pointed out is shit only right wing nutjobs are worried about. If he wants to appeal to the undecided voters, another few million, he has to say something that he hasn't said before, AND DOESN'T CONTRADICT everything he has already said REPEATEDLY. Make sense? Oh, and good luck with that.

That shit you just mentioned is old hat. What people are talking about are the new talking points that all of a sudden out of left field appeared in his speech last night. For example, you can't be all of a sudden be "worried" about blacks AND AT THE SAME TIME REPEATEDLY INSULT THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES with his "birther movement".

The list is so long with the contradictions I don't even want to waste precious electrons typing this.

I'd be astonished if due to his speech last night, which was aimed at this electorate, Trump changed the minds of:

100 black voters
100 latino voters
500 educated white women
1000 republicans

At that rate, he would have to give a canned speech 24 hours a day for 365 days and stay on message to close the gap with Clinton. And that assumes those voters don't change their minds.

You can fool all of the people some of time. And you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
