Donald Sterling is a Democrat

Just like the delight you righties feel when Obama appears to be making a foreign policy error which hurts America.

It's not delight. It's anger. Speaking only for myself, I assure you, I WANT Obama to do the right things and succeed. If he did, I would applaud him regularly.

We're becoming another 1930's Nazi Germany. Independent dissenting thought or speech will not be tolerated.

In a sickening display of totalitarian aspirations, two Democrat lawmakers are crusading to try and invite the federal government to monitor and stifle speech that they arbitrarily define as “hateful.”

Massachusetts Democrat Senator Ed Markey New York Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries are looking to advance legislation that would monitor and curb supposed “hate speech” on the internet, radio and television.

According to a statement from Sen. Markey’s office, The Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014 “would create an updated comprehensive report examining the role of the Internet and other telecommunications in encouraging hate crimes based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation and create recommendations to address such crimes.”

Fair point, Tsing. So, though your reply is in a thread about Sterling, you're not saying it's merely a "claim" that Sterling is racist.

Lucrum quoted Ed Shultz, to which I was responding. As for Sterling, the man is obviously racist, if those comments are indeed his as they appear to be. But we didn't need the audio to know that. All we had to do was look at the history that has been proof a long time coming. The media ignored all of that until the audio was presented, because the narrative was perfect.

I wonder how come they were able to get to the bottom of this so called scandal in just a few days and they can't get to the bottom of benghazi or the irs.

The NAACP has admitted that it condoned the known racism of L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling because of his large donations.

In order to avoid a charge of threatening, a Virginia man plead guilty to a charge of curse and abuse after he left a vulgar voicemail for Virginia’s Attorney General, Mark Herring.

It appears protected speech is becoming harder and harder to come by…

James Timothy Berry was fined $250 for his voicemail he left for Attorney General Herring. Capitol Police claim that Berry left a tirade on the comment line after Herring attended a hearing on a same-sex marriage case in a federal court in Norfolk, Virginia.

The voicemail reportedly offered a vulgar-laced tirade regarding Herring’s support for same-sex marriage.

Of course, while it’s important to try and maintain a civil tongue on matters of political discourse, the courts have routinely applied strict scrutiny to any infringements upon speech. While there have been examples of curtailing speech (such as yelling “fire” in a crowded theater), mean or vulgar speech hardly seems to be in line with legal prohibitions on speech that poses an imminent threat to public safety.

Notre Dame, a Catholic university located in Indiana, sent a message of non-acceptance to a student group that stands for and supports traditional marriage. The TFP Student Action describes themselves as a project of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property, says they had university permission to set up their traditional marriage table. However, when the group manned the table and handed out literature, the police arrived and ordered them to ‘cease and desist.’ The group says they were told at that time that while they did have permission to have a table, they did not have permission to actually man the table.

The US Gov't has a bunch of (effective) enforcers, and Sterling doesn't have any....

Plus, politicians hate notoriety, and Sterling actually wants it...

The "they" he's speaking of is two different entities: the NBA, and the federal government. The NBA is not investigating Benghazi (or the IRS), and the federal government is not investigating Sterling's tape.
