I had bad teachers with good qualificaions and I know good teachers without any educations. I think of myself as a good teacher, just read my relevant threads and decide for yourself.
Joe Satriani has no teaching qualifications and he taught several of today's famous guitarplayers, just another example. Most famous musicians have educational vdeos, visit a musicstore.
Most famous pokerplayers wrote books on how to play poker, I bet most don't have educational degrees.
Hell, just about anybody who makes it to the top in ANY business writes a book on how to do it, why would Don be different?
By the way, Don comes from a family of teachers,
"My grandparents and both parents were teachers, as is my sister.", so the short answer is:
GENETIC. He has a genetic disposition to be a teacher.
P.S.: And if you ask why did they do it, there is a simple answer. For the extra income. (and a little ego trip too)
