There's also a privacy issue about sharing too much
personal info online with anonymous people because there's a few real jerks out there in this world that would be very eager to stop by to say hello.
Seriously, there was a guy here that shared his trader workstation in one of the old workstation threads. He had this crazy amount of monitors that he posted. Many replies about him lying, copying the image from an image source, not a trader, loser and so on.
He then felt compel to prove himself so he then posted his business address (his trading office) and invited anyone to stop by and say hello along with allowing them to view his trading office for verification that he was telling the truth. Baron or a moderator deleted his post with his address a few days later.
Too late, damage done. He did get visitors and a few were wackos...one he had to call security because the stranger (had to be an ET member) made threats and said he had a weapon. Simply, be careful about what personal info you cough up here at this forum just to prove something or to brag about something...some folks here got some real problems that we know nothing about due to the nature that its an anonymous forum.
We've also had a few situations of members being
hacked by other members. Yet, nothing could be proven it was another member. I saw a documentary once about how hackers can befriend you online at forums and soon you think you have a buddy...you begin sharing all kind of personal stuff about your life.
Another situation, a few members continue getting into heated debates here at ET...one not able to put the other on ignore. Eventually after several months of arguing, debating, personal attacks...they decided to meet in person in Chicago after discovering they both lived in the same city area...
A meeting for the sole purpose of
"last one standing gets to say I was right". One admitted later that he brought along a friend just in case he was losing the fight.
Be careful...some members here don't have their heads on straight.
P.S. That next vacation trip you're taking...don't announce it at a forum full of anonymous folks and don't say when your going. I think I see about 20 ET members per year doing such type of announcements here at the forum. Members that had already shared their city location, name and favorite hangouts in other forum discussions.
