"Smoke pot! Smoke pot! Everybody smoke pot!"
I think you're looking at "creativity" a bit too narrowly and literally. To be creative is not just to "invent" or "create", but to be able to see more depth in things than you would otherwise, to see things from a different, fresher perspective, to see something new in something old, and to use feelings and intuition as well as, and along with, intellect.Rules of go and no go must be ironclad, otherwise if a trader is making stuff up they will get hammered....by the market. The creativity aspect may help in the beginning when a trader is forming their trading plan, but this can hinder them when they are trading because they will be inventing too many trades as they go along.
I've been smoking pot, in moderation, for 30 yrs and I can assure you that it has definitely not screwed up my...Quote from volente_00:
I would have to say no. I know for a fact that it screws up your short term memory which can't be good for trading.

That would depend completely upon the individual, what was "unlocked" or not. For moi, and many others, pot makes us more aware of, and gives us insights into, our own pysche's, therefore enabling us to better deal w/our own shortcomings.Intuition/fresh perspectiveness may be unlocked when trading, but so too is the unconscious desire to sabotage oneself, it can be a double edged sword.

What "intruders"? What "distractions"? I don't get intruded by anything, I don't get distracted by anything. Pot doesn't put little men in my head that are chattering to each other. It opens up the mind I already have and allows me to use it more efficiently.Quote from NZDSPeCIALISt:
The objective of trading is to make money, if someone has an edge(s) then all they need to do is put them into practise day in and out. The insights that a trader gets under the influence of pot when looking at the screen waiting for an edge to come up are interesting intruders best left alone lest they distract from the primary goal. Awareness does not mean overcoming, that takes understanding and for that meditation is a more permanent form of self development.
