Does Schwab Limit Price Improvement for Very Heavy Trading?

So the world's biggest market should operate on the same principles as a mom and pop home improvement store? I don't think so. Discrimination should be illegal.

PFOF is bad for other reasons too, for one thing it is naturally leading towards a monopoly in liquidity provision. Think about how high the barriers to entry are to the PFOF game. It's literally impossible to compete.

Good thing you are not running the capital markets or banks or market makers/specialists.
I like it just fine + i don't run any of those.....................................................

You seem to think PFOF is a good thing. I guess you know nothing about market making. As I said, the current structure is leading to a monopoly. Think about it. It is impossible to do a startup that buys order flow. Do you seriously believe it's a good thing if citadel is on the other side of every single retail trade? I much prefer a fair system where everybody can participate in the market on either side.

The spread on those two tickers is .01; what kind of price improvement were you getting? subpenny?

This is only a guess, but there might be a way for the MM to tag your account for toxic flow. If that's the case, I could see it leading to your orders being handled differently and/or sent off to inverse fee exchanges.

What do you mean by inverse fee exchanges?

Rebates for taking liquidity and fees for posting. Of course, the inverse exchange would have to be on the NBBO...but good chance that would be the case in the highly liquid stocks mentioned by the OP.

Oh I know what you are referring to, the thing is most people who trade like the OP is not only doing market orders, sometimes they also put in limit orders or the vise versa. Although OP is a rare breed of quick keystroke trader. I can’t figure out how ppl do it, more power to them. Amen.

On the other hand who pays for the exchange fees? The MMs or the retail brokerage? Your previous reply implies that it’s the retail brokerage that pays the exchange fees.

Actually, I was implying the opposite. My understanding is that the MM pays/receives exchange fees if they ship the order. Again, I was only speculating, so no idea how much this really happens in practice.!

Your posts are getting increasingly incomprehensible with every reply. You appear to be accusing me of having errors in my posts, but you don't give any examples. Other than that, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
