Does God Suffer From Vanity?

Quote from Thunderdog:

I can breathe air. In its absence I would die very quickly. People who have been deprived of air have died unless their air supply was reestablished in time. Therefore, we know air exists. Its existence is anchored in irrefutable fact.

How do you know this is fact ? Did you experience it ? Or did you put faith in other's stories whether, verbal or visual in order to come to this conclusion ?

Quote from ddunbar:

Anyone care to define what being in a state of theism is?

Theism, not atheism. Though I do mispell a lot and make a plethora of typos, I do mean theism with a "t."

I ask because if atheism has a "state of being" (highly debatable) then its counterpart (some like to think of atheism as an opposite), theism must also have one.

I can't define it nor have I ever seen it defined that way because theism is without question a worldview/ideology. In essence, I'm looking for someone to define theism as if it is a condition or state of being. (Yeah, I can think of a few jokes here too.)
Perhaps if you define what a 'state of being is' seeing you use the term.

Theism with God . A/the state of being with God. What's the problem?

It's strange ddunbar, you attach a requirement for the significant basic meaning of 'state of being', but the very etymology and purest form of meaning for the word atheist it seems you have no tolerance of.

TD, the foundation of atheism is an argument from ignorance. Which also holds true for theism, so why not choose agnostic ?

To say 100% that something does not exist just because you have not seen it is ludicrous.
An agnostic is an atheist in politically correct clothing. For all intents and purposes, an atheist and an agnostic go about their daily lives in much the same way, which is rather unlike a theist.

100%? No, not 100%. But, like a HEPA filter, 99.7%. Therefore, I will live my life on the basis of the balance of probability. (Hey, at least give me credit for giving your belief 0.3% credibility.)

So you know what an agnostic is?

ROTFLMAO...

Agnostics are not bitter sods who start stupid threads like this one...

Too funny TK9, too funny...

Good point. But why take my word for it? Deprive yourself of air, or what you believe is the concept of air, for an extended period of time. And if you are alive after this experiment, let me know what you think.

You are being intentionally obstinate about your own silly argument. That's disingenuous. You have succumbed to obfuscating. If you don't know for a fact, an irrefutable fact, that you need air to survive, then we have nothing more to talk about.

I called myself an agnostic at one time and truly believed that this is what I was. Now I see it differently.

You call me a bitter sod? In one post you talk about love and heart and in the next you unleash your hatred on those who disagree. Bitter indeed.

So you are denying you are a bitter sod?
