Does ES lead or follow A/D line?

I've been looking at using the A/D line as a confirmation before trade entry on the ES, but am not sure if the A/D is supposed to be coincident, leads, or lags the ES.

I'd like to hear from others on how they use this indicator in their trading. Thanks!
 
My experience (& I'm not an expert) is that this is a more useful indicator when ES is quiet (low volume) - but when volume starts to go in to ES, nothing stands in its way.
