Does Bloomberg always require a 2-year commitment, or is it negotiable?

For years my broker has forwarded me screenshots of Bloomberg market stats on things that I don’t see anywhere else. It’s like you have a team of analysts working for you. I’ve never actually considered getting a BT as I’m not a full time trader and not in the market all the time. Has anyone here came up with a “poor man’s” substitute for a Bloomberg terminal?

we got a kick out of the Colombia kidnapping index.

If you're a small fund (ideally relatively new and they think you'll grow), they'll give you a 1y contract. Besides that, you're hitting that 2y

Price for 1 terminal vs 2 is different by a negligible amount.

Eikon / Xenith, yours for around $150 / month. It's a cut down version of Eikon which prices similarly to BB, and they like to play around with what's included and what's out with zero notice but it covers a lot of bases.
