I am from NYC ... originally. Now yet another South Florida transplant, 30 years later.

As for Belize it is a two hour flight away and the only Latam dual official language (Span & Eng) country. One hour time difference.

The climate and natural beauty including second largest barrier reef in the world but yet hardly ever gets touched by hurricanes - I believe?

And last but not least it's a bit off the beaten path and not a focus, at least currently, of "prying eyes".
 
I heard that I would have to give up my US citizenship if I choose to go to one of those Islands or Malta in order not to have to pay tax here. I am not originally from the US, so it shouldn't be that hard to leave.
I just felt PR is a great in between until I decide to go permanently.

Turks and Caicos are also hot now

Pretty sure the rule is that even after renouncing US citizenship, you still have to pay taxes for three years after that on any income made in foreign lands, or some dumb shit like that.

Sorry man, they get you coming and going.
