Is there a relationship between volatility and volume?

I would say yes as pretty much any huge candlestick will show a spike in volume, never seen a huge a candlestick with low volume. But perhaps I just haven't witness one yet.

Looking @ a SPY chart\all the down% weekly charts have big volume[> 50 day moving average volume] MAR 2018-MAR 2021.
Going up moves are different.
The is a >>12% SPY weekly move..... on less than 50 dma volume \same chart................That may not be low volume/ IBD chart notes that week is 21%, less volume .That maybe less volume. But its less than 50dma volume.[The edit device is not working well/but hopefully it is readable]
