Reasons for NOT purchasing a Ferrari:

1. maintenance (supper, super high)
2. reliability (same as above)
3. insurance (same as above)
4. lack of parts (for this model)
5. attracts attention of the wrong kind of people who might follow you home and help you get out of it (using a gun, not pretty words to get their point across).
6. manual transmission - hard to drive
7. ugly interior
8. scratches very easily (very low to the ground)
9. IRS - might audit you if a jealous neighbor makes a phone call
10. There are other exotics that will make people take notice without all the major headaches associated with owning a Ferrari.

However if you must own a Ferrari, a Testarossa or 348 are so much better looking and within the same price range (give or take 20K). Out of the three I would recommend a Testarossa.

Both 348 and Testa are so much better loking and they will boost your sex life. Both models can be had for around 50 to 75K.

Camaro baby, cheap parts, comfy, run 150 mph all day if you must do so, do 1G turns with a little [well, more than a little maybe] suspension rework. Sex appeal ..... might be missing actually

i know a little about this. 1st off, you can pay a little more and get one w/FAR less mileage and better maintained. call a couple of local ferrari specialist shops or the local ferrari dealer to do a ppi (pre-purchase inspection) - you will then know exactly what you're getting into. also ask the seller exactly when the "major" service was done (if he tells you the mileage when it was done it is not good....get the date. he may tell you it was done at 61k miles...but that may have been 5 years ago).

bottom line before you buy a ferrari: learn as much as you can about them...and specifically the model/yr you're looking to purchase. also, what are you buying it for? status or that you really love cars (esp ferraris). also be prepared to have some cash stored aside as you will have to spend some for maintenance. you don't sound too sure about it...so i would tell you to wait and learn more about them...also look around more...there are suprisingly many to choose from. do not just look at a low price. you should be someone who loves cars and loves to drive them - don't become one of the clowns who only buys them, thinking he'll get girls...but doesn't know how to drop the stick into reverse. good luck!

Buy a new vette instead.

Negotiate the price down to invoice + 2K w/ the dealership.

A 2007 vette is a lot more fun (and probably faster ) then a 20 year old ferrari, and it'll probably cost you a LOT less in maintenance.

I'm positive. I'm not the seller. I'm thinking of buying it. But just looking for peoples opinions. I heard an oil change cost 5K. If that is the case, then I'm not buying it for sure. And a smog test cost 1K and registration cost 10K. Tires cost 5K each? Tune up cost 5K? Is that all true?
